On Friday, my husband James flew out to Ladakh, the breathtaking Himalayan region in Northern India.
He’s spending the next three weeks on a motorbiking and men’s work retreat - an adventure that has become deeply meaningful for him.
This year, as we both celebrate our 50th birthdays, we chose to embrace our own journeys.
I recently went to Mexico for a retreat of my own. Now James is off exploring new terrain, both on the road and within himself.
It’s been many years since we’ve taken separate trips like this and without our girls.
When I met James in London, he was already a seasoned touring biker, having explored much of Europe on two wheels.
But men’s work?
That is a newer passion and one that honestly surprised me.
After COVID, James began his own journey into men’s work, and now he practices it with other men in our community at least twice a month.
So what exactly is men’s work?
- How is it shaping the way men show up in the world?
- What holds men back from doing this deep, often vulnerable work?
- And why do they truly need it?
I sat down with men’s work facilitator and co-creator of my Men on Purpose pilot program, Skott Taylor, to explore these questions and more.
Our conversation was honest and rich - diving into the power of men feeling their feelings, the unconscious masks men carry, the crucial role of vulnerability, emotional leadership, and so much more.
If you’re curious about what men’s work really is and why it matters, this conversation is one you will not want to miss.
