Batch It Crazy (Productivity Hack)

If you joined me recently on Instagram and Facebook live you will have heard me talking about one of my favourite productivity hacks: task batching!

For those of you who feel like you have endless lists of things to do and not enough hours in the day to do them, this one's for you!

Task batching means batching similar tasks together and doing them within a set timeframe, rather than jumping from task to task and pulling at your mental resources. For example, creating your written content set days or bulk baking for the week.

Research shows us that every time we get interrupted or distracted it takes approximately 23 minutes and 15 seconds for us to get our attention fully back onto the task we were working on. Over a given day this can really reduce our productivity.

The brain doesn't like multitasking and really doesn’t perform well when switching from task to task. It takes a lot of cognitive energy for us to jump from one thing to the other and we only have limited capacity in this space.

So to all you multitaskers out there (including myself!) it’s really important to train yourself on how to batch your tasks within set time windows and allow your brain to settle into one task at a time. Not only will your brain be happier, but you will also be more focused and productive and feel less stressed moving through your tasks.

Doing one thing at a time in designated time blocks significantly increases our productivity and is what our brain likes the most.

Here are some areas in your life that you might consider batching your tasks:

  • Check and reply to emails at set times a day
  • Write and schedule social media posts once a week or month
  • Content creation confined to one day a week or month
  • Record videos or podcasts on certain days of the week
  • Sales calls at set hours/times
  • Deep analytical work daily or weekly
  • Reviewing finances or key business stats
  • Bulk cook/bake one day of the week
  • Batch your chores
  • Quality family time
  • Fixing, mending and other DIY
  • Gift buying
  • Studying

Batching requires you to be disciplined about your scheduling, minimising distractions and actively planning your days, weeks and months.

I will be speaking more about this in my upcoming FREE 3-day workshop about How to Get Traction on your Life and Purpose.

We’ll be talking about purpose, vision, getting traction through inspired action and uncovering your blind spots.

👉🏼 👉🏼Make sure you SAVE YOUR SPOT TODAY.

Love to see you there - we are going deep on traction!
