A New Season + Pea Courgette and Mint Soup

Hello there,

Well, autumn has arrived for us here in Southern Hemisphere. The calm blue crisp days feel like the breathing space between the long hot days of summer and cold darkness of the winter to come.

Whether you are in autumn or spring, entering into a new season can be an analogy for the seasons we move through in ourselves. It reminds us that nothing stays the same and that things naturally evolve and move into a new season. We can either resist it, grieve it or embrace the change.

It is said that autumn is a time of letting go – nature does this beautifully in the way it releases leaves into the breeze without any resistance. For a new beginning to commence an existing season must end. Take a moment to think of what you might want to let go of this autumn?

At this time of year, the days and nights are almost the same lengths, which can represent bringing balance back into our lives. Summer is often a social and busy time where we want to be outside enjoying the long warm days and the company of others. With more darkness arriving we naturally gravitate inside and allow ourselves to retreat a little more inwards.

Seasons can be described as yin (more feminine) or yang (more masculine). Autumn and winter are considered yin months, which means it is a time for rest, nurturing, slow food, receiving, restoring and being creative.

Perhaps this is why I have been relishing my time at home, studying, creating, cooking and living more slowly and simply with each day that passes. I have been cooking soups like a crazy lady, and here is one for you.

Pea Courgette and Mint Soup

I love this soup and so did my whole family. It’s quick and easy to make and if you love minted peas you’re in for a treat. Gluten-Free and Dairy Free.
